Lillian Carter

Lillian Carter joined Boston Conservatory in 2001 and is an instructor in musical theater jazz dance.

Prior to teaching at the conservatory, Carter was a guest faculty member for the dance department at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA and guest faculty for the dance and theater departments at Glen Urquhart School in Beverly, MA (1993-1998).

Carter is founder and artistic director of Greenglass Dance Theater, a performance-art-based dance company founded in 1998 and performs in the New England area. Additionally, since 1998 Carter has been a teacher at Jeannette Neill Dance Studio in Boston where she continues to teach to the general public.  In 2000, Carter developed and presented choreographic workshops for Border's Books in New York, New Jersey, and Boston.

As part of her ongoing efforts to bring dance to her local community, she brought dance as a form of physical fitness to the veterans at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea, MA and to the elderly at MGH in Revere, MA. Carter is also an employee for the City Of Chelsea in the Health and Human Services Department, where she teaches dance to inner-city children. Carter has been a guest choreographer and teacher for The Citi Performing Arts Center's ACT Program and the Suskind Young At Arts Program, Walnut Hill School of the Arts, Dean College, Regis College, Tufts University, Emerson College, and Harvard University.

Carter received her B.F.A. in modern dance choreography from Boston Conservatory in 1990. Upon graduating from the conservatory she received a Licensed Performing Arts Secondary School Teacher Certification for K-12 in 1996 and later received a certification for specialization in childcare healthcare and education from Salem State College in 2005.
