Sophocles's Oedipus has thrilled theater audiences for more than 2,500 years—a stark, seering cautionary tale of hubris, dawning self-knowledge, and the inescapable power of fate. Ellen McLaughlin's new, accessible, and contemporary translation comes to vibrant performative life using dynamic physical movement, potent poetic text, and bold, imaginative lighting. Directed by David R. Gammons, members of the sophomore and junior contemporary theater ensembles explore and reimagine this ancient Greek tragedy with a 21st-century energy and vision.
