Valerie Madden joined Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2019. She is an assistant professor of theater specializing in the Linklater Voice Method.

Madden is a Designated Linklater Teacher, an actor, and a theater educator. In addition to the Conservatory, Madden also teaches voice and text at Emerson College, where she has taught since 2017. Previously, Madden taught at Shakespeare & Company, where she directed over a dozen shows for their education department. She has taught in the past with Actors’ Shakespeare Project, CityStage, and the Merrimack Repertory Theatre.

In 2016, Madden worked as a facilitator for Anna Deavere Smith's Notes from the Field: Doing Time in Education at the American Repertory Theater. During the show's run she engaged with audience members in conversations about race, privilege, inequality, and the school-to-prison pipeline.

Madden was designated as a Linklater voice teacher by Kristin Linklater at the Linklater Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland, in 2019.  She earned her M.F.A. in theatre education from Emerson College in 2020.
