Boston Conservatory student wins First place in Pappoutsakis Flute Competition

Boston Conservatory student Allison Parramore (M.M. '13, G.P.D.'16) was named first prize winner in the 35th Annual James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition on Sunday, January 25.

BOSTON, MA (Feb. 3, 2015)—Boston Conservatory alumna Allison Parramore (M.M. '13, G.P.D., '16) was named first prize winner in the 35th Annual James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition on Sunday, January 25. Parramore performed Busoni at the competition, which took place at Boston University.

The competition is held in memory of flutist James Pappoutsakis, who had a distinguished career as an educator and musician in the Boston area. Each year, competitors in the preliminary round of the competition are heard in a screened audition, and those selected as finalists audition at a participating school. The 1st prize winner receives a monetary award, as well as the opportunity to perform a full recital in New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall for the Fenwick Smith Tribute Concert.
