Berklee Valencia Commencement Celebrations

Join us on Saturday, July 6 for a day of music and activities in the City of Arts and Sciences to celebrate the graduation of Berklee Valencia’s master’s students!
In the morning, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., we will have a variety of activities for music lovers of all ages. We will take a break from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to escape the heat. The activities will continue in the evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., culminating in a DJ dance party.
Food trucks and installations by students in our Master of Music in music production, technology, and innovation, as well as an area to relax, will be available throughout the entire day.
Activities are free and open to all with the exception of the three concerts in Martin i Soler, which will require tickets. Each concert will showcase a different repertoire and will primarily feature students in our Master of Music in contemporary performance (production concentration). Information on how to get free tickets for those concerts will be shared shortly.
Schedule:
El Matí - 11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
- 11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.—Activities for all ages including a palmas workshop, batucada, science activities, tote bag printing, record cover designs, air tattoos, mural painting, and more!*
- 12:00 p.m.—Concert at Martin i Soler (tickets required)
- 2:00 p.m.—Videos scored by students in our Master of Music in scoring for film, television, and video games at the Hemisfèric
La Vesprada / La Nit - 6:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m
- 6:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.—Activities including tote bag printing, record cover designs, air tattoos, and mural painting.*
- 6:00 p.m.—Concert at Martin i Soler (tickets required)
- 8:00 p.m.
- Videos scored by students in our Master of Music in scoring for film, television, and video games at the Hemisfèric
- Listening party of artists signed to our label, Disrupción Records, run by our students in the Master of Music in global entertainment and music business
- 9:00 p.m.
- Concert at Martin i Soler (tickets required)
- Videos scored by students in our Master of Music in scoring for film, television, and video games at the Hemisfèric
- 9:30 p.m.—DJ dance party, with students in our Master of Music in music production, technology, and innovation
* Please note that some of these activities take several hours from start to finish so please plan accordingly.

Berklee Valencia Commencement Exercises
Date: Monday, July 8, 2024

Location: Auditori Superior, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia, Spain
Caps and Gowns
Caps, gowns, and tassels are provided at no charge to graduates. They will be available on campus from Monday, July 1, through Friday, July 5, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Instructions on how to collect them will be provided closer to these dates.
Note that this is the only opportunity to pick up caps and gowns. They will not be available on commencement day.
You will have time after the ceremony to have your photo taken in your cap and gown. Before leaving, you must return your cap and gown (baskets will be set up), but you may keep your tassel as memorabilia of this occasion.
Getting Your Diploma
When you walk across the stage to receive your diploma, don’t be surprised to find you have been handed just a cover, with no diploma inside. Since final grades will not have been posted yet, actual diplomas are not distributed at the commencement ceremony. Instead, if you have been approved to graduate in July, your diploma will be mailed approximately 12 weeks after the ceremony to the address you will provide.
Diplomas will include your name, degree, and any honors received. The Office of the Registrar will order your diploma using the name entered in the database when you were admitted to Berklee, unless you have indicated differently. Since all diplomas will be mailed, please be sure the permanent address on file with the Registrar’s Office is correct.

Commencement 2023
On Monday, July 10, 2023, a total of 136 graduates from 39 countries were recognized at Berklee Valencia’s commencement ceremony. At the event, Berklee Valencia’s interim Executive Director Simone Pilon presented an honorary Doctor of Music degree to self-made entrepreneur and highly regarded music publicist Yvette Noel-Schure. During the commencement concert, which was held at the Palau de les Arts on Saturday, July 8, graduate students performed a selection of different musical styles, delighting the audience once again with their extraordinary talent and artistry.

Commencement 2022
On Monday, July 4, 2022, a total of 137 graduates from 42 countries were recognized at Berklee Valencia’s commencement ceremony. Berklee President Erica Muhl presented an honorary doctorate to 11-time Goya winner and four-time Oscar-nominated Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias at the event. Graduate students performed a medley of Iglesias’s compositions at the concert, which was held at l’Hemisfèric on Saturday, July 2.

Commencement 2021
Berklee Valencia’s virtual commencement ceremony for the 2021 graduating class took place on Monday, July 7, 2021. At the event, 116 graduates and 44 returning students (from the classes of 2021 and 2020, respectively) from 33 countries received master’s degrees in music production, technology, and innovation; scoring for film, television, and video games; contemporary performance (production concentration); and global entertainment and music business. The ceremony included remarks delivered by leadership from Berklee’s Boston and Valencia campuses.
During the ceremony, Berklee Valencia presented an honorary doctorate to Grammy-winning artist and political activist Gilberto Gil. In advance of the ceremony, Berklee Valencia’s virtual commencement concert featured graduate students and faculty paying tribute to Gil, who joined them for a prerecorded selection of his songs. Pieces performed included “Palco,” “Refazenda,” and “Eu Vim Da Bahia.”

Commencement 2020
Berklee Valencia’s virtual ceremony for the conferral of degrees for last year’s graduating class took place on Saturday, July 11, 2020. At the event, 143 graduate students and 10 postgraduate fellows were acknowledged individually for their achievements during a ceremony that included remarks delivered by leadership from Berklee’s Boston and Valencia campuses.
During the ceremony, Berklee Valencia presented an honorary doctorate to singer, songwriter, composer, actress, and activist Lila Downs. Graduate students, together with Downs, performed a tribute to her music as part of the ceremony.

Commencement 2019
On Monday, July 8, 2019, 150 graduate students from 30 countries were recognized at Berklee Valencia’s commencement ceremony. Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented an honorary doctorate to acclaimed recording artist Imogen Heap at the event. Graduate students performed a medley of Heap’s music at the commencement concert, held at l’Hemisfèric on Saturday, July 5.

Commencement 2018
Our Commencement Concert on July 7 was a vibrant night where the graduating master’s degree students at Berklee Valencia shared their extraordinary talent and music with the city. The show drew thousands of people to enjoy the student's final concert after a year of hard work earning their master's degrees. This year's concert featured special guest, composer and guitar legend Al Di Meola, who also received an Honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee at the 2018 Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement 2017
At the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia on Monday, July 10, graduating master’s degree students at Berklee’s Valencia, Spain campus recently celebrated their commencement with a concert and a ceremony at which Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented an Honorary Doctor of Music degree to legendary guitarist, composer, and pioneering bandleader John McLaughlin. The 137 new graduates, hailing from 30 nations, received a mix of master of music degrees in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation; Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games; and Contemporary Performance with a concentration in production; or master of arts degrees in Global Entertainment and Music Business.

Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain celebrated its commencement ceremony on Monday, July 11 at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia. This year, 119 students from 30 nations received their master’s degrees from Berklee in four programs of study: music production, technology, and innovation; contemporary performance (production concentration); scoring for film, television, and video games; and global entertainment and music business. The students came to Berklee from Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Greece, India, Korea, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, the UK, the US, and Venezuela, among others.
