Out of an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19, this program will be offered remotely for summer 2020, and will accept applications through June 1, 2020. Please see below for updated program information, including reduced pricing.
June 22–July 10, 2020
Boston Conservatory at Berklee Musical Theater Acting Intensive is designed for emerging theater artists, ages 14 to 25.
Led by Broadway veteran Laura Marie Duncan, this three-week program delves deep into the complex art of character development, with remotely taught classes in acting, singing, and movement. Students will also explore classical and contemporary repertoire in subjects ranging from Shakespeare to pop and rock vocal techniques, as well as brand-new classes that incorporate technology in innovative ways. The program will also include social and interactive student activities.
A key focus of Boston Conservatory’s Musical Theater Acting Intensive is audition preparation, with a special emphasis on college auditioning. Throughout the three weeks, students will refine audition material of their choosing with the guidance and mentorship of the program’s expert faculty. By the end of the program, students will have the skills and confidence needed to nail their next audition. Rising seniors will be able to work on pre-screen material, and will be given valuable insights and advice about applying to Boston Conservatory’s musical theater B.F.A. program.
In addition to a new online curriculum, the program will feature master classes with Broadway guest artists, including acclaimed actress Laura Osnes.
Musical Theater Acting Intensive is modeled after Boston Conservatory’s top-ranking musical theater programs and gives students who are considering a degree in theater an opportunity to experience Boston Conservatory's signature training. The program is designed to complement the Conservatory’s related summer intensives—Musical Theater Dance Intensive, which develops strong theater dance technique, and Vocal/Choral Intensive, which is designed for serious singers interested in musical theater or classical music.
