Dr. Karen Walwyn will speak on composer Florence Price, the first female African American composer to gain national status. Her music was lost for over 30 years and was most recently found in her abandoned home in 2009. Dr. Walwyn was the first to premiere the Concerto in One Movement for Piano with Orchestra

Jazz vocalist and pianist Daniela Schächter will lead her quintet as they perform original music and recent arrangements of contemporary songs. With Jason Palmer on trumpet, Rick DiMuzio on sax, Keala Kaumeheiwa on bass, and Bertram Lehmann on drums.
