When are refunds available for students with a credit balance on their account?
Refunds for student accounts with a credit balance are processed approximately 7 to 14 days after the 10th day of classes, or 7 to 14 business days after a loan is disbursed to the student’s account. All refunds are issued to the student unless one of the following situations applies:
The student instructs the Financial Aid Office or Office of Student Accounts in writing to issue the refund to another party or to leave it on the account.
If there is Parent PLUS Loan, the refund is issued to the parent. The parent may instruct the Financial Aid Office or Office of Student Accounts in writing to issue the refund to another party, leave it on the account, or return to lender.
Refunds created by Title IV funding (federal loans and grants) are issued automatically. Students must request a refund for credit balances created by any other funding.
Why are billing statements not sent to the home address?
Why are billing statements not sent to the home address?
A student over 18 years old is considered a legal adult and is responsible for his/her account. All billing statements are published to Self-Service. Students can also request paper copies in person. We will provide a copy to a parent upon request if the student has provided a FERPA release authorizing us to do so. However, we encourage students who wish to share their student account details with their parents or any other individual to grant them access in Self-Service. The Registrar's Office accepts requests to add authorized users to Self-Service accounts throughout the year.
What do the mandatory fees cover?
What do the mandatory fees cover?
Mandatory Comprehensive Fee
Charged each semester (see Tuition and Fees).
The mandatory comprehensive fee consolidates many of a student's previous separate charges (i.e., general student fee, student activity fee, health services, orientation, graduation). If a student is less than full time, the fee is prorated based on credit load.
Medical Insurance
Charged each academic year (applies to three-quarter and full-time students).
All three-quarter and full-time students are automatically enrolled in, and charged for, Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Student Health Insurance Plan. An insurance card will be provided to students at the beginning of the academic year. If you do not wish to enroll, you must waive the Student Health Insurance Plan. This has to be done every year. Students must either purchase the school-sponsored health plan or show proof of comparable coverage in an alternate U.S.-based health insurance plan.
In addition to the health insurance requirements, all students with a permanent address outside of the U.S. who waive our medical insurance are required to enroll in emergency medical evacuation and repatriation coverage at a nominal fee.
