A Note from the Director
When I was beginning to curate this show, I was listening to a new release of the Concord Sonata by local pianist and Ives Society president Don Berman, as well as hearing some Ives songs performed at a contemporary music festival in the Netherlands. This music still sounds so fresh, inventive, fun, and unapologetically American to my ears and hopefully to yours. It has been a joy teaching Ives to the next generation of contemporary artists, as well as pairing his work with other living composers who are each mavericks in their own right.
