Boston Conservatory’s Production team, as part of Performance Services, provides professional technical and production support for performances happening throughout the Conservatory, with an emphasis on productions taking place at 31 Hemenway (Mainstage Theater) and 8 Fenway (Zack Box Theater), along with select other venues. Production supports multiple fully produced performances for the Dance, Theater, and Music Divisions as part of the curricular experience, as well as select other events. The department includes technical direction, props, costumes, lighting, audio, and stage management.

Technical Direction, Scenery, and Props
The scenic team works closely with professional scenic and properties designers to construct sets, furniture, and props as needed, with a strong emphasis on safety and functionality.
There is limited on-site prop storage that houses a variety of hand prop and furniture pieces. Props are provided for Mainstage, Zack Box, and curricular productions.

Costume Shop and Wardrobe
For each production, the costume shop builds, shops, rents, and pulls costume items from the school’s costume stock to help realize the artistic team’s vision. Stage Management
Boston Conservatory’s stage management team supports professional production and assistant stage managers for the Conservatory’s dance, theater, and opera performances along with specific summer events. On each assigned production, a stage management team is built with both staff and students to focus on that project from the initial meetings through the final performance, ensuring a smooth and safe production.
