Biography

Tommy Neblett has been in the dance profession for over 35 years as a performer, choreographer, educator, artistic director, and administrator. In addition to being interim dean of dance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, he is co-artistic director with his wife, Diane Arvanites, of Prometheus Dance and the Elders Ensemble (post-professional dancers ages 62–95). They have received a creativity grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, six artist fellowships in choreography from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and a citation for outstanding artistic achievement from former Governor Deval Patrick. Their work has been performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Jacob’s Pillow, and Bates Dance Festival, as well as throughout the East Coast and in Spain, France, Denmark, Venezuela, and Ecuador. Neblett has taught at the Conservatory since 1994, as well as at Boston Ballet, Harvard University, Emerson College, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and the Oure Idraetshojskole in Denmark.
