Introduction to iPad Media Technology (C-PR 1001)

ABOUT THE COURSE

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to offer the Conservatory’s first-ever technology course, Introduction to iPad Media Technology (C-PR 1001). The course teaches students essential audio and visual recording and editing skills so that they will be able to produce quality content and market themselves through digital platforms. Throughout the course, students will analyze, critique, and assess their own work and that of their colleagues to gain an understanding of how technology can be used as a vehicle for their artistry and making the performing arts more accessible to all members of the global community. The class meets for one hour weekly and provides one credit. It is a required course for all first-year Conservatory students and can be taken in either the fall or spring semester

Required Hardware

In order to be successful in C-PR 1001 Introduction to iPad Media Technology, students will need to have an iPad and Apple Pencil that meets the following minimum requirements:

Additional Technology Recommendations: Device Protection

It is recommended that you protect and care for your iPad as you would any other valuable resource. Repairs not covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan can be very expensive. If theft, breakage, or other damage occurs (regardless of fault), you are liable for the cost of any and all repairs or replacement. It is strongly recommended getting third-party insurance.

Q. Is C-PR 1001 Introduction to i-Pad Technology a required course?
Yes, all undergraduate students studying at the Conservatory are required to take C-PR 1001 Introduction to i-Pad Media Technology in the fall or spring semester of their first year.

Q. If I already own a more advanced iPad model, can I use it in this class?
Yes, so long as your iPad model is comparable (or more advanced) than the 9th or 10th generation iPad, you will be able to use it for C-PR 1001 Introduction to iPad Media Technology.

Q. If my device gets lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair, will the Conservatory replace it for me?
No, the Conservatory is not responsible for replacing lost, stolen, or damaged devices. The purchase and cost is your sole responsibility.

Q. What if I do not yet have an Apple ID?
Simply create one. As the iPad you obtained is your personal device, you may create an Apple ID using personal credentials, rather than using your OnePass credentials.

Q. Can I purchase an iPad through Berklee?
No, students that do not already own an iPad that meets the minimum requirements should purchase one through a third-party external retailer.
