Boston Conservatory at Berklee faculty artists Markus Placci and Judith Eissenberg (violins), Paul Laraia (viola), and Rhonda Rider (cello) present an evening of dynamic works.

About the Artists

Markus Placci, violin, has given recitals and solo appearances with prominent orchestras across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He is the winner of several international prizes like the Brahms Preis Germany and Tanglewood Reiner Violin Prize, and has been featured on BBC Radio, in world premieres, and in chamber collaborations with Gil Shaham and Yo-Yo Ma. Placci has been awarded Boston Conservatory Outstanding Faculty of the Year and American String Teachers Association’s Best Teacher (2016). Learn more about Placci.

Judith Eissenberg, violin, is founder of the Grammy-nominated Lydian String Quartet, a group that has recorded extensively and won top prizes at the Evian, Banff, and Portsmouth international string quartet competitions. An active chamber musician, Eissenberg performs regularly throughout the U.S. and abroad and is involved with Boston Chamber Music Society, Emmanuel Music. Learn more about Eissenberg.

Paul Laraia, viola, was first prize winner of the Tertis International Viola Competition and the Sphinx Competition, and is active as a soloist and as the violist of the Grammy-winning Catalyst Quartet. Laraia has been a soloist with the major orchestras of Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Bogotá, New Jersey, Nashville, New Haven, St. Paul, and Cincinnati. He studied with Kim Kashkashian at New England Conservatory. Learn more about Laraia.

Rhonda Rider, cello, was a member of the Naumburg Award–winning Lydian String Quartet and Triple Helix Piano Trio for over two decades. She has adjudicated at Fischoff, Stulberg, and Concert Artist Guild competitions. Numerous works were written for her by composers, including Raven Chacon, John Harbison, and Lee Hyla. Twice awarded Outstanding Faculty of the Year, Rider teaches fabulously creative BoCo students. Learn more about Rider.
