Boston Conservatory Orchestra Presents Two Performances at Harvard’s Sanders Theatre

The Boston Conservatory Orchestra will host two performances at the Sanders Theatre at Harvard University on February 3 and March 10, 2017.

The Boston Conservatory Orchestra will host two performances at the Sanders Theatre at Harvard University on February 3 and March 10, 2017. Both concerts include lectures from Boston Conservatory faculty members one hour before the start of each performance.

The orchestra opens its spring season on Friday, February 3 at 8:00 p.m. with works by Alexandra du Bois, Edward Elgar, and Richard Strauss. The concert will be conducted by Jonathan McPhee. Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor, op. 85 will feature a solo performance by cellist Nathaniel Taylor (G.P.D. ’17), winner of the 2016–2017 Boston Conservatory Concerto Competition. Boston Conservatory at Berklee music history coordinator Elizabeth Seitz will host the pre-concert lecture at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m., the orchestra will perform the complete incidental music to Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt, conducted by Bruce Hangen. The performance of Peer Gynt op. 23, prepared by George Case, director of choral activities for Boston Conservatory at Berklee, will feature the Boston Conservatory Chorale and Women’s Chorus, as well as Toby Weinberg on Hardanger fiddle. Bruce Hangen will host the pre-concert lecture at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for the February and March Boston Conservatory Orchestra performances are $10 to $15 with discounts available. The event will take place at the Sanders Theatre at Harvard University, located at 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
