Boston Conservatory at Berklee Theater Professor Kevin Siegfried was thrilled to learn that his choral arrangement of “Lay Me Low” would be featured in the funeral ceremony for former President George H.W. Bush on December 5 at The National Cathedral. Siegfried was made aware of the news the day before the service.

"I was blown away when I found out that The Armed Forces Chorus would be performing my arrangement at President Bush’s funeral service,” said Siegfried. “I’m humbled that my work was chosen to underscore such a solemn event. Occasions like this give us an opportunity as citizens to focus on national unity, and music can do that in such a powerful way.”

The Armed Forces Chorus is comprised of vocalists from all U.S. military services. The chorus sang Siegfried’s “Lay Me Low” during the service’s musical prelude.

"We are so proud of Kevin," said Cathy Young, executive director. "This experience has been such an honor for Kevin and for our school, and a poignant illustration of how the power of music and the arts can impact the world."
