Boston Conservatory Center Stage Presents Opera Masterpiece La Bohème
Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s final Center Stage production of the fall season will be Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, one of the most beloved operas of all time. Performed by Boston Conservatory opera students, shows will take place at Boston Conservatory Theater from Thursday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on November 19 through November 21, and 2 p.m. on November 22.
Set in the vibrant streets of Paris, this timeless masterpiece follows a group of young artists whose lives are shaped by friendship, ambition, and the transformative power of love. When the poet Rodolfo meets the gentle Mimì, their romance blossoms through some of opera’s most unforgettable music, before inevitably confronting the realities of poverty and loss. La Bohème loosely served as the inspiration for Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize– and Tony Award–winning rock musical Rent.
Filled with soaring melodies, humor, and heartbreaking beauty, La Bohème continues to captivate audiences and remains a perfect introduction to opera, all while remaining a favorite production of longtime enthusiasts. Boston Conservatory’s production is directed by professor Nathan Troup and conducted by associate professor Andrew Bisantz.
“Puccini’s masterpiece La Bohème is a timeless classic that has persisted in popular culture for over 130 years due to its relevant themes of artistic creativity and freedom,” said Troup. “This production at the Conservatory will be filled with familiar and beloved music, performed by the next generation of opera talent—it is certainly not to be missed.”
La Bohème will take place at Boston Conservatory Theater, located at 31 Hemenway Street in Boston, Massachusetts, at 7:30 p.m. from Thursday, November 19 through Saturday, November 21, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 22. Tickets are $43.50 to $48.50 for regular seating and $33.50 to $38.50 for seniors, non-Berklee students, and Boston Conservatory alumni.
