Concert Services and Performance Technology
The Concert Services team, as part of Boston Conservatory’s Performance Services Department, provides scheduling, production support, and front/back-of-house staffing for a number of events, including large and small instrumental and vocal ensemble concerts; various concert series; and faculty, studio, guest artist, and student recitals. This office also oversees the daily scheduling of the Conservatory’s large rehearsal/performance spaces: Seully Hall, Houston Hall, Studio T401, and Ipswich 106. Additional support is provided for the Mainstage Theater and Zack Box Theater with the Production team.
Concert Services contains the Concert Production and Performance Technology teams. Working closely to support events, the two teams have distinct functions. Concert Production provides scheduling, front-of-house support, off-campus ensembles, and pit orchestra setups for mainstage performances. Performance Technology provides video recording and live streaming for select curricular events, as well as audio and visual support. The Concert Services team does not provide support for classes.

Support for Curricular Events
- Student Curricular Recitals: Students must register for an M–SK 0009 recital, then meet with the Concert Services team to confirm date, time, location, and production needs. This typically includes graduate, senior, and select junior recitals. Dress rehearsals are subject to space and staff availability and are not guaranteed.
- Ensemble Classes: These include large ensembles such as orchestra, wind, brass, and other ensemble performances as part of a class. Select performances are performed off campus. Scheduling is determined in collaboration with Music Division leadership.
- Additional Curricular Events for Dance, Theater, and Music: Event requests should be submitted via Smartsheet by the respective division leadership, then confirmed by Concert Services. A planning meeting may be required before approval of the event, to determine available support. Please note, tech and dress rehearsals are subject to availability of space, equipment, and support staff. Events are limited to a maximum of two performances and two tech and/or dress rehearsals.
Support for Elective Recitals, Student Clubs, and Other Non-Curricular Events
- Non-curricular events will be booked after all curricular needs have been met, and are determined on a first come, first served basis.
- All events will require a meeting with Concert Services before being approved, to determine feasibility of request.
- Events are permitted a maximum of two performances and one dress rehearsal, depending on availability of space and staff.
- The Performance Technology team does not provide support for non-curricular events. This includes use of microphones, speakers, and projections. Support for these elements may be available through Classroom Technology, with advance notice.
- Recordings and live streaming are not provided by Performance Technology for non-curricular and elective events.
- Limited theatrical lighting is available in Studio T401. Use of the lighting board requires Concert Services permission, and must be discussed in advance. It is not permitted to add additional lighting equipment to the existing system.
- Elective recitals and events do not have access to props, costumes, or other production materials.
- Groups are not allowed to store items in the room overnight due to use of space.
- Student clubs must follow all policies as outlined in the student club handbook. Additional questions about student clubs can be answered by contacting clubs@berklee.edu.
