Boston Conservatory at Berklee Presents Opera Adaptation of Little Women
Boston Conservatory at Berklee will conclude its fall Center Stage season with an opera adaptation of a literary classic. Marc Adamo’s acclaimed opera version of Little Women will take place at Boston Conservatory Theater from Thursday, November 20 through Sunday, November 23. Evening performances will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Featuring evocative period costumes and a cinematic set design, this production is directed by associate professor David Gately and conducted by associate professor Tiffany Chang.
Following the four spirited March sisters as they come of age during the American Civil War, Little Women explores love, loss, and the bonds of family. Adamo’s lush, contemporary score captures the depth of their journey with soaring melodies and intimate detail, making this opera a modern classic since its premiere in 1998. The opera has been performed around the world, most recently in the United Kingdom in 2022.
“Little Women is a masterpiece of modern-day American opera, showcasing a beloved story in an entirely new light,” said Gately. “I am so pleased to bring this story, told in a beloved New England setting, to our own campus in the heart of Boston, performed by our incredibly talented opera students. It will be a fantastic production to round out the Center Stage season this year.”
Little Women will take place at Boston Conservatory Theater, located at 31 Hemenway Street in Boston, Massachusetts, at 7:30 p.m. from Thursday, November 20 through Saturday, November 22, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23.
