Boston Conservatory at Berklee to Present Wind Ensemble: A Brass Celebration

The free Center Stage concert is part of Boston Conservatory's Brass Festival Weekend.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s fall Center Stage season will kick off on Saturday, September 30 with Wind Ensemble: A Brass Celebration, a concert featuring woodwind and brass students and faculty. The performance will take place at Boston Conservatory Theater at 8:00 p.m., and will also be available via livestream.

Led by accomplished conductor, clarinetist, and Boston Conservatory Chair of Instrumental Studies Matthew Marsit, the concert will feature the New England premiere of Adam Gorb’s Out of the Darkness. The performance will also include Lindsay Bronnenkant’s Tarot; Henk Badings’s Symphony No. 15; Assistant Professor Anthony Barfield’s Red Sky, featuring Assistant Professor Angel Subero on trombone; and Bramwell Tovey’s Manhattan Music, featuring the Boston Conservatory Faculty Brass Quintet.

“I am so very excited to open the fall 2023 Center Stage season with this performance by our wind ensemble,” said Marsit, who also serves as artistic director of the Charles River Wind Ensemble and has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Fairmont Chamber Orchestra, and the Baltimore Symphony. “This is such a special program, featuring the incredible talent of our world-class faculty along with our students, and includes the regional premiere of a new work co-commissioned by Boston Conservatory in a program of exciting works audiences won't experience elsewhere in the region.”  

Wind Ensemble: A Brass Celebration is part of Boston Conservatory's Brass Festival Weekend, taking place from September 30 through October 1. The weekend will be a celebration of musical artistry and innovation for all brass and music lovers. Brass Festival Weekend will feature master classes, performances, and presentations by guest artists Denise TryonPhilip Smith, and Sasha Romero, as well as esteemed Boston Conservatory at Berklee faculty members Joseph FoleyRichard KelleyAngel SuberoEli EpsteinAnne HowarthNorman BolterLarry IsaacsonKen Amis, and Marcus Rojas. Brass Festival Weekend is presented through Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Artistry in Action series, which celebrates exceptional artists and initiatives that exemplify Boston Conservatory’s core values of excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
