Joshua Tuason

Joshua Tuason joined the Conservatory in 2022 and is an associate professor of dance. He teaches classes in Cunningham and modern, as well as Awareness for Dancers, a course based in Alexander technique. 

Tuason has been on the faculty at Roger Williams University, Rhode Island College, and Ballet RI, and has taught master classes at Brown University, Connecticut College, and Motion State Arts. 

Throughout his performance career, Tuason was based in New York City, where he was a member of the Stephen Petronio Dance Company for nine years. His freelance work included collaborations with dance artists Yvonne Rainer, Pam Tanowitz, John Heginbotham, Ian Spencer Bell, Ellen Cornfield, Pat Catterson, the Martha Graham Ensemble, and the Merce Cunningham Trust.

Tuason’s dance artistry began in a public-school outreach program run through San Francisco Ballet, where he trained for eight years. He holds a B.F.A. from Marymount Manhattan College. He is certified in Cunningham technique through the Merce Cunningham Trust and completed a 1,600-hour certification in Alexander technique from Boston Conservatory, under the direction of Debi Adams.
