American Composers Orchestra to perform world premiere orchestrations of Charles Ives's 114 Songs, including two by Conservatory Chair of Composition, Contemporary Music, and Core Studies Jonathan Bailey Holland.

Guerilla Opera revisits Conservatory faculty member Marti Epstein's mesmerizing seventy-minute adaptation of the Brothers Grimm's Rumpelstiltskin staged with shadow-puppet animations designed by Deniz Khateri in a rare New York performance.

Tony Award-winning triple threat Sutton Foster is adding another honor to her impressive list of accomplishments. Cathy Young, the executive director of Boston Conservatory at Berklee, will present Foster with an honorary doctor of music degree during the conservatory’s commencement ceremony on May 11.

The two-time Tony winner, who will return to Broadway in 2020, will be presented with the doctorate in May.

Conservatory faculty member Judith Eissenberg will perform Sofia Gubaidulina’s String Quartet No. 4 with the Lydian String Quartet. The piece features pre-recorded sounds, multicolored lights, and various extended techniques.

Chair of Composition, Contemporary Music, and Core Studies Jonathan Bailey Holland’s composition His House Is Not of This Land was performed at the Bang on a Can marathon at Mass MoCA. The piece was inspired by Cornelia Parker’s art installation Anti-Mass, which uses burnt wood collected from a torched Southern Baptist church.

Alumni Anthony Freda (M.M. '82, composition) and Joseph Freda (associate alumnus '77, guitar)—brothers who also attended Berklee College of Music—fulfill a lifelong dream of presenting a program of original and familiar works together in their concert The Dream.

Alumnas Bonnie Cochran (M.M. '00, flute) of the Cochran Wrenn Duo launched a music program called InConcert aimed at increasing high school students' engagement with the arts. The duo is a recipient of the Conservatory's Alumni Entrepreneurial Grant.
