Boston Conservatory at Berklee Unveils Musical Theater Acting Intensive
New Summer Program for Emerging Theater Artists Runs July 22 to August 9, 2019
Boston Conservatory at Berklee is excited to announce a new addition to their comprehensive suite of summer programs: Musical Theater Acting Intensive (MTAI), July 22 to August 9, 2019. Designed for emerging theater artists between the ages of 15 and 25, the new three-week intensive delves deep into the complex art of character development, and works closely with students to polish material for future auditions. Applications are due June 1.
Led by Laura Marie Duncan, Broadway veteran and Boston Conservatory associate professor of theater, Musical Theater Acting Intensive offers rigorous studies in acting, singing, and movement, with daily classes covering both classical and contemporary repertoire, from Shakespeare and clowning to pop/rock vocal techniques. Throughout the program, students will work to refine an audition piece, ensuring they leave the intensive with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their next audition.
Musical Theater Acting Intensive is modeled after Boston Conservatory’s top-ranking musical theater B.F.A. program, and gives students who are considering a degree in theater an opportunity to experience Boston Conservatory’s signature training. The program is designed to complement Boston Conservatory’s existing summer intensives, the popular Musical Theater Dance Intensive, which develops triple threat performers through rigorous training in ballet, jazz, and theater dance, and the Vocal/Choral Intensive, designed for advanced singers interested in musical theater or classical music. Musical Theater Acting Intensive’s dual focus on character development and audition preparation makes it an ideal choice for any student interested in pursuing theater academically or professionally.
