News at the Conservatory

Celebrating the Conservatory’s first-ever class of commercial dance students, the concert will feature works by industry-leading choreographers.

The acclaimed soloist shares her thoughts on compelling performances, student-teacher bonds, and the “microwave” approach to audition preparation.

Take a year-end look at the awards and distinctions earned by Boston Conservatory and its accomplished alums.

The four spring performances will highlight student talent in dance, music, and theater.

Nominees include Alissia Benveniste, Miguel Zenón, Bill Frisell, Madi Diaz, Lalah Hathaway, and many others. 

Shinn, who served as the Conservatory’s dean of music for six years, has been interim executive director since August of 2023.

Hear samples from the October 27 concert program, including Scheherezade’s daring tales and Richard Strauss’s comic romance Der Rosenkavalier.

The program celebrates the art of storytelling through orchestral favorites and a contemporary composition.

Conservatory students will perform works by guest choreographers Hope Boykin, Christina Chan, Norbert De La Cruz III, and Andrew Skeels, in addition to works created by dance faculty.  

Conservatory students and faculty will perform a free evening of works exploring the legacy and influence of Johann Sebastian Bach.
