While scientists have been sounding the alarm on climate change through most of the twentieth century, global awareness increased in the 1960s, leading to Karel Husa’s profound Apotheosis of This Earth in 1970. In this program, Maestro Husa’s masterpiece is joined by equally profound “response” works on several themes by Joan Tower, Sally Lamb McCune, and Michael Colgrass. Join us for a program that explores the color, variety, and power of the wind band, as written by some of its most significant contributors.
