Nancy Dimock is the principal oboist of the Boston Ballet Orchestra, the Boston Lyric Opera, the Springfield and Vermont symphonies, and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and is oboist and English horn player with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra. She has been featured as a soloist with the Albany Symphony, the Vermont Symphony, the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and the Indian Hill Symphony, and has performed the Bach Concerto for Violin and Oboe on tour with renowned violinist Jaime Laredo. She has collaborated with such artists as the Jacques Thibaud Trio and the Lydian String Quartet and has been an artist at the Carolina Chamber Music Festival. She also performs frequently as a guest with ensembles in Boston and throughout New England. During her tenure as principal oboist of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, she performed on the Grammy-nominated recording Rosemary Clooney: The Final Concert. Dimock has also appeared on the Prairie Home Companion radio show, NPR’s Performance Today, and PBS’s Great Performances, and has recorded for Concord, Albany, and Chandos records, and BMOP/Sound.

The audition class for woodwinds is designed to help students learn how to prepare for—and be successful at—taking auditions. The class offers practical advice on dealing with nerves, logistics, score study, and presentation. By the end of the course, they will understand the process and have experience performing in a simulated environment.
