A Promise to Our Community
Boston Conservatory at Berklee is fully committed to creating a diverse learning environment, free of discrimination of any kind. We will cultivate an environment where community members of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities are supported, valued, and empowered, and where people embrace and engage with difference through the essential values of mutual respect and human dignity.
We acknowledge and condemn the structures within our society that perpetuate inequality and injustice, and we are accelerating our efforts towards reaching the diversity goals outlined in the Boston Conservatory Strategic Direction, announced to our community in fall 2019.
Through our teaching, our actions, and our community, Boston Conservatory seeks to be part of the solution. When faced with racism or discrimination within our own community, it is our responsibility to address these issues and illuminate a different path forward, so we may break the cycle. Together, we will learn, educate, and progress. At Boston Conservatory, we will work judiciously to eradicate injustice from our campus and ensure an inclusive learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
Throughout this ongoing process, we will continue to listen—with open minds and hearts—to our community members, whose input remains critical to our progress and vision for the future. We will continually examine and re-examine our institutional structures and practices to ensure action, accountability, and progress toward our diversity goals.
