As a teacher, I am interested in keeping my students up to date on the current trends of tap dance. I believe in providing challenging and comprehensive instruction, while having fun and enjoying dance.

Aaron Tolson joined the Conservatory in 2007, and teaches musical theater tap.

Prior to teaching at the Conservatory, Tolson was the cocreator, assistant choreographer, and assistant producer of Imagine Tap!. He has also worked as a consultant and writer for Dance Spirit Magazine, as well as a professor of dance at Plymouth State University.

In 2005, Tolson completed a six-year run as a featured soloist and tap dance captain with Riverdance, a tour that took him to Broadway and Radio City Music Hall. Currently, he continues to scout and train new tap dancers for the show. Tolson has also performed, choreographed, and taught at the Beantown Tap Festival, LA Tap Festival, and Brazil Tap Festival, in addition to performing with Brookline Chorus’s Duke Ellington Sacred Concert and on The Late Show with Liam O’Connor in Dublin, Ireland.

Tolson attended St. John's University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in communications while honing his tap technique in New York. In his senior year of college, he successfully auditioned for the New York Shakespeare Festival tap program, also known as Funk U!, and soon after became a company member with Manhattan Tap. Jumping feet first into choreography, he landed a job with Absolut, choreographing a piece for their second tour of Absolut Tap! and serving as the all-team dance captain for two years.

Tolson currently resides in Bedford, New Hampshire, where he directs the pre-professional tap company Speaking in Taps. The company aims to promote the performance of tap in the community while fostering a sense of individuality in professional artists. He is also the national spokesperson for So Danca, an industry leader for dance attire and dance shoes.
