As a voice teacher, I seek to cultivate authenticity and confidence in my students, above all else. Vocal technique is there for the purpose of finding expression and connection.
Cassi Mikat joined Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2023 as an instructor of voice. Mikat is a performer and voice teacher based in New York City. As a performer and proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, she has worked professionally in theaters across the globe, from Dayton, Ohio to Singapore, and New York City to Mumbai, India. Favorite roles include Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music (global tour), Sharon Graham in Master Class (Human Race Theatre), and Florinda in Into the Woods (Encore Theatre). In addition, she has performed as a cabaret artist in venues such as 54 Below and gigged as a pop-rock vocalist in New York and Boston, both on stage and in the recording studio. She was a semi-finalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition (2016) and a finalist in the NATS National Musical Theatre Competition (2019).
Mikat holds a Master of Fine Arts from Boston Conservatory at Berklee in musical theater vocal pedagogy and a bachelor’s degree from Wright State University in acting with an emphasis in musical theater. She presented at the Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop in 2022 on finding sustainability and authenticity in pop-rock singing, alongside Dr. Jessye DeSilva. Mikat also has expertise in training rough vocal effects, the topic on which she wrote her graduate thesis.
Mikat is cofounder of The Voice Collective (along with William Pazdziora), a private voice studio based in New York City, with additional virtual students from all over the country and the world. Her students have performed on Broadway, in national and international tours, on cruise ships, and in regional theater. They also have released studio albums and performed original music in venues throughout New York.
