Boston Conservatory Dance Students Return to the Stage at KCON Los Angeles

Twelve dance students from Boston Conservatory at Berklee will perform a new piece, “Fanmail,” by choreographer Jennifer Archibald, at KCON LA, the world’s largest convention for Korean culture and music, from July 26 to 28 in Los Angeles.

This marks the third year in a row that Boston Conservatory dancers have partnered with Archibald to create K-pop-inspired dance performances for the main stage at KCON LA. The popular convention draws more than 100,000 attendees to the Los Angeles Convention Center and more than 20,000 K-pop fans to evening concerts held Friday through Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena.  

Blending K-pop dance trends with Archibald’s accomplished choreography, the performance will feature students from Boston Conservatory’s contemporary and commercial dance programs. Archibald is the founder and artistic director of Arch Dance Company and program director of ArchCore40 Dance Intensives. Her extensive résumé includes collaborations with leading ballet and contemporary companies throughout the United States, as well as commercial work with the likes of Nike and MAC Cosmetics.  

“I really enjoyed the process of creating ‘Fanmail,’ which will premiere at KCON this summer,” said Archibald. “It's exciting to explore new movement ideas made possible by working with both the contemporary and commercial track dance majors at the Conservatory. This performance dives into the vibrant world of K-pop, celebrating the energy, passion, and creativity that define K-pop music and dance.”

Boston Conservatory at Berklee dance students will be featured in the KCON LA concert lineup alongside globally acclaimed headliners Taemin, Craxy, BoyNextDoor, AleXa, Isaac Hong, ME:I, TWS, NMIXX, and more.
