Boston Conservatory Earns Several “Best of” Recognitions in 2019

In 2019, Boston Conservatory at Berklee continued to push the limits of what a conservatory education looks like for today’s performing artists.
On the performance front, the Conservatory expanded its commitment to innovative programming, from dark reimaginings of classics such as Cabaret to celebrations of women’s voices in the musical theater revue Can’t Keep Quiet (Opens in a new window)and avant-garde works by female composers performed by contemporary classical ensemble contraBAND(Opens in a new window), to the East Coast premiere of the fully orchestrated contemporary opera Glory Denied(Opens in a new window).
In the classroom, the Conservatory welcomed acclaimed guest artists such as Susan Botti (composer/soprano) and Tom Cipullo (composer), as well as some of the dance world’s most in-demand young choreographers(Opens in a new window), including Juel D. Lane and Loni Landon(Opens in a new window), who created brand new works with the school’s dance students. On the academic side, Boston Conservatory welcomed a dynamic new dean of theater, Scott Edmiston(Opens in a new window), and named Patsy Collins Bandes(Opens in a new window) chair of theater.
