Scores of Boston Conservatory Alums Bring Broadway Back to Life

Following an almost-two-year hiatus, more than 50 Boston Conservatory alums are bringing in-person theater back, both on and off Broadway and through national tours.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee is consistently recognized on Playbill’s "top 10 most represented colleges on Broadway,” and with Broadway’s reopening in fall 2021, alums have been a major force lighting up its stages and touring productions across the country. Following an almost-two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 50—and counting—Boston Conservatory alums are bringing in-person theater back, both on and off Broadway and through national tours. All are musical theater alums unless otherwise noted.

Ain't Too Proud

Aaron Patterson (B.F.A. '21) is a swing in the Broadway production of Ain't too Proud.

 

Aladdin

Shoba Narayan (B.F.A. '12) stars as Jasmine and Paul HeeSang Miller (associate alum, '10) joined the ensemble in the Broadway cast of Aladdin.

 

The Band's Visit

Kendal Hartse (B.F.A. '07) returns to the national touring cast of The Band's Visit, playing Iris.

 

Brilliant

Kimberly Suskind (B.F.A. '07, musical theater) plays Sarah in the new musical Brilliant.

 

Cats

Sean McManus (B.F.A. '21) and Vincent Andoloro (B.F.A. '21) are in the national tour of Cats.

 

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Cody Garcia (B.F.A. '16) will play Willy Wonka, and David Alea (B.F.A. '18) and Jenna Scannelli (associate alum, '18) join the ensemble for the tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

 

A Christmas Carol

Joe Longthorne (B.F.A. '12) produced A Christmas Carol on Broadway, and Rachel Prather (B.F.A. '12) was cast as Little Fan in the production.

 

Come From Away

De'Lon Grant (M.M. '09) rejoined the cast of Come From Away on Broadway, and also appears in the filmed version of the show on AppleTV+.

 

Company

Company's return to Broadway includes Jennifer Simard (B.F.A. '92) as Sarah, and Matt Wall (B.F.A. '95) as an understudy.

 

Dear Evan Hansen

Gabrielle Carrubba (B.F.A. '18) is reprising her role of Zoe in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway.

 

Diana

Erin Davie (B.F.A. '00) will be playing Camilla Parker Bowles in the new musical Diana, both on Broadway and Netflix.

 

Escape to Margaritaville

Peter Jordan (B.F.A. '19) will return to the touring cast of Escape to Margaritaville as Brick.

 

Fiddler on the Roof

Elliott Lazar (M.F.A. '19), Morgan Cohen (B.F.A. '21), and Ali Molaei (B.F.A. '21) will join the ensemble in the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof.

 

Jagged Little Pill

John Cardoza (B.F.A. '16) and Ebony Williams (B.F.A. '05) return to Jagged Little Pill on Broadway, and Grace Slear (associate alum, '19) joins the cast. 

 

Hadestown

John Krause (B.F.A. '12) returned to Broadway in the worker ensemble in Hadestown.

 

Hamilton

Associate alum Nicholas Christopher ('09) plays Aaron Burr, and Andre Cerullo (B.M. '13, piano) is the music director in the Los Angeles production of Hamilton. Stephanie Umoh (B.F.A. '08) is returning to the “Angelica” tour of Hamilton, as Angelica. Kendyl Sayuri Yokoyama (associate alum, '21) also joins the cast as a swing and understudy for Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy, as well as Lisa Finegold (B.F.A. '11) as a swing and co-dance captain. Alex Swift (B.F.A. '15) is a swing in the “And Peggy” tour of Hamilton

 

Jesus Christ Superstar

Courtney Arango (B.F.A. '13) and David Andre (B.F.A. '20) are in the ensemble of the touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar

 

Little Shop of Horrors

Salome Smith (M.F.A. '18) is a Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors off-Broadway. 

 

Mean Girls

Sarah Crane (B.F.A. '14) and Niani Feelings (B.F.A. '17) are returning to the touring cast of Mean Girls.

 

Mrs. Doubtfire 

Alexandra Matteo (B.F.A. '11) is in the ensemble in Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway.

 

Oklahoma! 

Gwynne Wood (B.F.A. '18) is the understudy for Laurey and Ado Annie in the Oklahoma! national tour.

 

Phantom of the Opera

Janet Y. Saia-Feld (B.F.A. ’90) joins the ensemble in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

 

The Prom

Bud Weber (B.F.A. '09) will play Trent Oliver in the touring production of The Prom.

 

Rent

Thomas Purvis (B.F.A. '21) is in the ensemble in the Rent 25th anniversary tour.

 

Sea Wall/A Life

Joe Longthorne (B.F.A. '12) and Ben Simpson (B.F.A. '11) are producers on Sea Wall/A Life.

 

Sing Street

Anne L. Nathan (B.F.A. '85, musical theater) and Johnny Newcomb (B.F.A. '11) star in Sing Street on Broadway as Sandra and Barry, respectively. Austin Regan (B.F.A. '07) is assistant director.

 

Trevor

Brandi Porter (M.F.A. '15) and Dan Rosales (B.F.A. '13) star in Trevor, a new musical off-Broadway.

 

Waitress

Matt DeAngelis (B.F.A. '05) joins the ensemble in Waitress on Broadway, and Joe Longthorne (B.F.A. '12) and Ben Simpson (B.F.A. '11) are the production’s producers.

 

Wicked

Allison Bailey (B.F.A. '14) helped kickoff the return of Wicked, playing Glinda in the touring company, and Jenna Nicole Schoen (B.F.A. '14) joins her as a swing, and Nessarose understudy. Celia Hottenstein (B.F.A. '13) returns to the ensemble and understudy for Glinda, as well as Meg Doherty-Scannell (B.F.A. '07) in the ensemble and Morrible understudy. Dan Micciche (B.F.A. '07) returns as music director and conductor.
