Brian Avers joined the Conservatory in 2025 as an associate professor of theater. Avers is an accomplished stage, screen, and voice actor who has originated and performed lead roles in Tony Award–winning Broadway productions (The Father, Rock ’n’ Roll, American Son, Travesties, Lieutenant of Inishmore) as well as prestigious off-Broadway premieres at Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, the Public Theater, and more. He has worked with world-class writers such as Tom Stoppard, Martin McDonagh, Florian Zeller, Itamar Moses, and Theresa Rebeck, and renowned directors like Trevor Nunn, James Lapine, Pam McKinnon, Doug Hughes, and Kenny Leon.
Avers’s television and film credits include NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, Law & Order, Law & Order SVU, Castle, Medium, The Closer, FBI, Blue Bloods, Instinct, Julie & Julia, Gigantic, and more. As a VO artist, Avers fronted a number of national commercial campaigns, appeared in hit video games, and narrated audiobooks for Audible in a variety of genres. As a creative, he has produced and directed new plays in New York City, written and directed indie films and comedy shorts, and cohosted a popular sports podcast. Meanwhile, Avers has worked with aspiring artists as a coach, teacher, and mentor for over 25 years. He is a proud SAG-AFTRA and Equity member who received his MFA from New York University.
