As an advocate for the pedagogy behind a versatile mechanism, my goal as a voice teacher is to help foster sustainable technique permitting the ability to be expressive emotionally and physically in any genre of singing.

Craig Juricka joined the Conservatory in 2021 and is a lecturer of voice in the musical theater and voice/opera programs.

Juricka, a Boston-based baritone, is an energetic vocal pedagogue and performer. Praised by Opera Today as a “malleable, engaging baritone,” his versatile performance career has brought him to concert, opera, and musical theater stages throughout the United States. An advocate for pedagogy behind a versatile mechanism, Juricka’s approach to performance is rooted in his cross-trained background as a singer. Aiming to create reliable and employable singers, his goal is to help students access their strengths and develop their weaknesses. Ultimately, this fosters sustainable technique, which allows the ability to be expressive emotionally and physically in any genre of singing.

His students can be seen performing on Broadway (Funny Girl), with Broadway national tours, in regional theater companies around the nation, and with some of the nation’s top choral ensembles.

An active performer himself, he recently was featured in the Boston POPS production of Ragtime. Juricka has performed with Des Moines Metro Opera, Odyssey Opera (Boston), Boston Camerata, Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, and Bach Akademie Charlotte. In the summers of 2018 and 2021, he was an apprentice artist at Des Moines Metro Opera. Some of his favorite opera credits include Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), Owen Hart (Dead Man Walking), and Dr. Oliver Sacks (Awakenings).

He maintains professional affiliations with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and Early Music America, and is a current vice president with the Boston Chapter of NATS.

Juricka holds an M.M. in vocal pedagogy from Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a B.M. in vocal performance with an opera and musical theater emphasis from Capital University. He maintains a private studio in Melrose, Massachusetts. Additionally, he serves on the voice faculty of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts
