As a musical theater educator, I am passionate about giving my students a solid foundation in musicianship and history, as a stepping stone to originating roles in new works.

Katya Stanislavskaya joined Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2023. She is a musical theater composer, lyricist, music director, and educator who teaches musical theater performance, history, musicianship, and songwriting courses.

Stanislavskaya’s original musicals include Resident Alien (Weston New Musical Award, Dramatists’ Guild Fellowship, Goodspeed Writers’ Grove, Western Carolina University), Going South (Dixon Place, Gallery Players, Musical Theater Factory), Women on Love (Gillioz Theater, Temple University, 54 Below, Laurie Beechman Theater); The Useful Citizen (Gainesville Theater Alliance, SUNY–New Paltz, Florida Festival of New Musicals), and Poetry & Prose (upcoming development at Manhattan School of Music). She received her MFA in musical theater writing from New York University, and is a longtime member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop. Her songs have been performed by Broadway talent such as Alex Brightman, Amy Justman, Anika Larsen, Denise Summerford, Grace McLean, Karen Ziemba, Malcolm Gets, Theresa McCarthy, Taylor Trensch, and Wesley Taylor. Her songs are part of the Lotte Lenya Competition Songbook and Contemporary Musical Theater Directory, and can be found on MusicNotes.com.
