Each student is an individual who needs to find their personal connection to the songs and scenes of theater. There is no wrong approach, and the only question to ask would be “Is this truth?”

David McGrory joined the faculty of Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2018 and teaches musical theater in studio classes and one-on-one coaching lessons.

McGrory is a music director, pit musician, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He has worked with most local theater companies and has stepped in as needed on national tours that come to Boston. Most recently, he served as music director for Rent at Boston College and played in the pits for Fiddler on the Roof at North Shore Music Theater and the national tour of MJ the Musical during its residency in Boston. He is a member of the Irish band Ishna and also performs concert piano on a regular basis and will soon begin a series of online concerts celebrating the sonatas of Beethoven and other composers.

McGrory has a B.M. in performance from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Scottish Conservatoire), immigrating to the United States for a graduate diploma from New England Conservatory, and an artist diploma from Longy School of Music. While in Scotland, he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as soloing with the Ulster Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, and the RTE Concert Orchestra. He has been active in the theater scene in Boston for the past 20 years. Currently, he lives in Medfield, Massachusetts.
