Emphasis in Dance Pedagogy

Program Overview

The emphasis in dance pedagogy consists of Dance and Theater division courses that allow students interested in dance pedagogy to gain experience in teaching multiple styles of dance.

Students who opt to declare this program will take a series of courses that focus on different pedagogical styles and theories. Through discussions, research, and hands-on experience, students will learn how to teach ballet, modern, jazz, and tap dance classes. Courses of study also include Laban Movement Analysis and Advanced Alexander Technique, ensuring students have the somatic skills necessary for holistic, integrated, and structurally correct teaching.
