Jacob Skeffington is a circus artist, educator, and acrobatic conceptor whose work bridges elite performance, conservatory teaching, and long-term artist development. He is an original cast member of Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA, teaches circus arts at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and is the founder of Eastern Acrobatics and Circus.

His training includes École nationale de cirque in Montreal and Beijing International Arts School in Beijing, grounding him in both contemporary circus and Chinese acrobatics traditions. His performance background includes hand-to-hand acrobatics, teeterboard, juggling, and hand balancing.

Skeffington’s current practice centers on artist-making as much as performance: building people, ensembles, and pathways. In 2016, he founded Eastern Acrobatics and Circus to create a performance-centered training environment that can take students from first exposure through pre-professional and professional trajectories.

Across performance, teaching, and circus creation, his work centers on embodied learning, technical excellence, creative agency, and the long-term development of artists.

In Their Own Words

From attending a Chinese acrobatics school to teaching toddler gymnastics, my broad exposure allows me to tailor classes to each student’s background, to maximize their speed of skill acquisition. I want students to be able to progress outside the classroom and have the confidence to use their skills in novel situations.
