Doug Lockwood joined the Conservatory in 2004 and is a professor of theater. Lockwood is a founding member of the Actors’ Shakespeare Project, where he has performed roles in Pride and PrejudiceRichard II, Measure for MeasureKing Lear (also at La MaMa, New York City), The Winter’s TaleOthelloHenry V, Titus AndronicusTwelfth NightMuch Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of VeniceAntony and Cleopatra, and Richard III. Also for the company, he has directed HamletMiddletownCymbeline, and the 2019 production of King Lear.

Lockwood has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Edmonton Fringe. Nationally, he has performed at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre.

He is a graduate of the professional actor training program at the University of Washington, where he studied under the direction of Steve Pearson. He received his BFA in theater from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Professional Awards and Recognitions

  • Received Faculty Fellowship Grant in 2021 to produce and perform Samuel Beckett’s Texts for Nothing, directed by Boston Conservatory alum Connor Berkompas (BFA '20) for Nervous Theatre
  • Directed actor Georgia Lyman in the one-person show Chesapeake, which received the Elliot Norton Award for Best Solo Show in 2013
  • Performed in all-male production of Titus Andronicus, which received the 2007 Elliot Norton Award for Best Director
