As an instructor, I strive to facilitate a vibrant learning experience by encouraging structure and illuminating strategies for how students can explore a deeper understanding of themselves and the rest of humanity through the craft of acting.

Amy Lynn Stewart joined the Conservatory in 2022 and is an associate professor of theater specializing in acting for camera, contemporary and classical scene study, new plays, and Shakespeare. 

Stewart is an award-winning stage, screen, and voice actress with theatrical productions including Appropriate (Humana Festival of New American Plays, Actors Theatre of Louisville), Intimate Apparel (Two River Theater, Indiana Repertory, Syracuse Stage), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Theatre of Frankfurt), Beauty (La Jolla Playhouse), Fallen Angels (Dorset Theatre Festival), Emilie's Voltaire (Theatre Row), Fiction (Florida Studio Theatre), and Ragged Claws (Cherry Lane Studio for New Plays), among others.  In addition to her work on stage, Stewart has made various film and TV appearances including Jewtah, Sisterhood of Night, The Good Fight, Monsterland, FBI: Most Wanted, House of Cards, Shades of Blue, Unforgettable, I Love You But I Lied, I Know This Much Is True, and Madame Secretary. In 2011, her performance in Mama earned her an award for Best Actress from the International Action Film Festival and the Mexico International Film Festival. Recent national voice-over campaigns include Daisy, Hertz, Verizon, and “Got Milk.” 

Stewart received her M.F.A. in acting from the University of California, San Diego, where she studied with Tina Landau, Kyle Donnelly, Ursula Meyer, Charlie Oates, Eva Barnes, and James Winkler. She holds a B.A. in dramatic art from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, under the mentorship of David Hammond and Ray Dooley, and is an affiliated faculty member at Emerson College.
