Opera Innovators Series: Songs and Stories with the American Spiritual Ensemble
Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Opera Innovators Series presents songs and stories with the American Spiritual Ensemble, a critically acclaimed professional group composed of some of the finest singers in the classical music world. The vocalists have thrilled audiences around the world with their dynamic renditions of classic spirituals. Blending the music and stories of enslaved African people, this interactive presentation will walk audiences through the development of spirituals as an art form—how they were used during slavery and later during the civil rights movement. Please join us for this noontime presentation in Boston Conservatory’s acoustical gem, Seully Hall, as all attendees fervently explore songs birthed from places of deepest grief and holiest joy—works that have become cultural treasures beloved by generations.
This event is open to Berklee students, faculty, and staff with a valid Berklee ID, and invited guests only.
The American Spiritual Ensemble is presented as part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Opera Innovators Series in partnership with the Boston Lyric Opera.
