Alexander Crosett

Alexander Crosett joined the Conservatory faculty in 2018 and is an assistant professor teaching piano skills. 

As a solo and collaborative pianist, Crosett has performed throughout the United States and in Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and Japan. He won the Silver Medal at the 2018 Osaka International Music Competition. His 2024 solo album, American Excursions, has been recognized for its “impressive degree of racial, gender, and stylistic diversity” (ArtsFuse).

Crosett has presented lectures, performances and workshops at national conferences of the College Music Society and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). He currently serves as national teaching certification commissioner for MTNA’s Eastern Division.

He has held teaching positions at Manhattan School of Music, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Bloomingdale School of Music, Kennesaw State University, and the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

Crosett received his MM in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music as a student of André-Michel Schub and his DMA from the University of Georgia under Evgeny Rivkin. He holds a joint BM degree from Emerson College and the Longy School of Music of Bard College, where he studied piano performance and pedagogy with Eda Mazo-Shlyam. He also studied with Jacques Rouvier at Orford Musique and Eteri Andjaparidze in New York City.

Outside of work at the Conservatory, he maintains a private studio in the Boston area.
