To discover the beauty in every movement no matter how uncomfortable we might feel within, to allow ourselves to be unconditionally unconditional with our artistry.
Ruth Fentroy joined Boston Conservatory in 2021, and is an assistant professor of dance.
Trained in Canada at the Goh Academy and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Fentroy’s teaching style is richly detailed with both technique and artistic quality, having a keen eye for detail and musicality.
She is a former professional regional and international ballet dancer and principal guest artist, having danced with the Cairo Opera Ballet in Egypt as well as several companies throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Scotland, and Egypt. Additionally, she has appeared in film, television, and regional musical theater productions.
Fentroy has more than 20 years of experience teaching ballet at all levels and has extensive experience coaching students one-on-one, as well as restaging full-length ballets. Many of her students have gone on to dance professionally with companies such as Boston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Atlanta Ballet II, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and San Francisco Ballet. She has judged youth dance competitions and recently returned to Cairo, Egypt, to adjudicate students for their ballet exams.
In addition to her teaching experience, Fentroy has spent several years acting as ballet mistress with Dance Peninsula Ballet and California Contemporary Ballet Theater. Her performance career was driven by the educational and healing powers movement has on dancers and audience members. It is this same drive that motivates her to continue working with artists today as a teacher, coach, and mentor.
Fentroy is passionate about passing the knowledge she has attained throughout her journey on to the next generation, teaching them how to apply this dance related knowledge into life, as well as encouraging each dancer’s inner beauty and strengths to flourish.
