Boston Conservatory at Berklee Announces Center Stage Performances for 2026–2027 Season
Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s curated performance collection Center Stage returns with a 2026–2027 season featuring innovative new works and dynamic stagings of beloved classics across dance, music, and theater. Audiences will be treated to a diverse range of student performances, from Puccini’s opera masterpiece La Bohème to the charming romantic comedy musical She Loves Me. This year’s lineup also includes a wind ensemble performance at Faneuil Hall, a production of David Adjmi’s play Marie Antoinette, and world premieres by acclaimed guest choreographers and composers.
Fall 2026
The fall Center Stage series opens on October 15 with Fall Dance Concert: From the Ground Up at Boston Conservatory Theater through October 18. The program features six world premieres by renowned choreographers Igal Perry, founder and artistic director of Peridance Contemporary Dance Company and Peridance Center; Seán Curran, chair of dance at NYU Tisch School of the Arts; Germaul Barnes, artistic director of Southern Dance Works; and Rosie Herrera, founding artistic director of Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, as well as assistant professors Junichi Fukuda and Emily Jerant-Hendrickson. Boston Conservatory sophomore, junior, and senior contemporary dance majors will perform these new works.
From November 5 through 8, students will perform She Loves Me, one of musical theater’s most charming romantic comedies, at Boston Conservatory Theater. Set in a 1930s European perfumery, She Loves Me is about two feuding shop clerks who are unaware that they are secretly falling in love as anonymous pen pals. With a soaring score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof), this intimate and witty show captures the magic of connection, the vulnerability of love, and the joy of discovering that the person you’ve been searching for might be right in front of you.
The Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble will perform a special concert at Faneuil Hall on November 8. Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble: America at 250 explores significant works by four American composers, sharing their efforts to encapsulate moments in history, time, and space. The concert also will feature a world premiere by composer and educator Kevin Krumenauer, reflecting upon our collective journey through life in today’s America.
The fall Center Stage season will conclude with La Bohème at Boston Conservatory theater from November 19 through 22. Widely considered Puccini’s masterpiece, La Bohème is set in the vibrant streets of Paris as it follows a group of young artists whose lives are shaped by friendship, ambition, and the transformative power of love. Boston Conservatory’s production will be directed by professor Nathan Troup and conducted by associate professor Andrew Bisantz.
Spring 2027
The spring 2027 Center Stage season will begin with the Commercial Dance BFA Concert at Boston Conservatory Theater from February 4 to 7. The concert will showcase all of Boston Conservatory’s commercial dance majors performing in a wide range of styles, including jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, and circus arts. The dancers will give life to world premieres by guest artists Alex Fetbroth and Asiel Hardison, and faculty members Jun Kuribayashi and Lindsey Klein. The concert also will feature a reconstruction of an iconic Bob Fosse masterwork, resulting from the Conservatory’s five-year partnership with the Verdon Fosse Legacy.
From February 25 through 27, Boston Conservatory theater students will present David Adjmi’s play Marie Antoinette at Boston Conservatory theater. Bold, irreverent, and fiercely theatrical, Adjmi reimagines the life of France’s most infamous queen through a striking contemporary lens. Beginning with her arrival at Versailles as a teenage bride, then charting her meteoric rise—and devastating fall—the play blends historical drama with modern language, music, and design, to explore celebrity, excess, and the price of living under constant public scrutiny. The Conservatory’s production will be directed by assistant professor Marianna Bassham.
Boston Conservatory students will perform Igor Stravinsky’s neoclassical opera The Rake’s Progress at the Calderwood Pavilion from April 15 through 18. A brilliant fusion of wit and musical invention, the story follows Tom Rakewell as he journeys through a world of desire, illusion, and self-discovery. With a dazzling score that reimagines the elegance and energy of eighteenth-century opera, and a masterfully crafted libretto by poets W. H. Auden and Chester Kallman, Stravinsky creates a work that is both intellectually playful and deeply human. The Conservatory’s production will be directed by associate professor David Gately and conducted by associate professor Andrew Bisantz.
The spring Center Stage season concludes with Spring Dance Concert: Limitless at Boston Conservatory Theater from April 22 through 25. The Conservatory’s annual spring dance concert showcases the limitless possibilities of contemporary dance—and the boundless potential of its student dancers. This year’s performance includes a world premiere by artist in residence Aszure Barton, a reconstruction of a “lost” José Limón masterwork, and an iconic Bob Fosse piece.
Center Stage is a perfect way for audiences to sample a curated selection of Boston Conservatory’s finest performances. In addition to Center Stage, Boston Conservatory offers arts lovers hundreds of free and low-cost events across dance, music, and theater, including musicals, operas, choral concerts, dance shows, ensembles, faculty recitals, student recitals, and several special series. The fall 2026–2027 Opera Innovators Series, in partnership with Boston Lyric Opera, will feature master classes with opera greats George Gagnidze, Michael Fabiano, and Patricia Racette. This fall, Artistry in Action will present String Master Series guests Jordan Bak (viola) alongside Ji Yung Lee (piano) and Yevgeny Kutik (violin) with Dina Vainshtein (piano), while the Piano Master Series guests will include Angela Cheng and Boris Berman.
