Dance Division Professional Partnerships
The Radio City Rockettes
The Radio City Rockettes and Boston Conservatory partnered to launch the Rockettes Precision Dance Technique course. Taught by a current Radio City Rockette, this course focuses on the Rockettes’ signature precision technique—which is based on a foundation of tap, ballet, and jazz. The course incorporates strength training and choreography that informs the traditional Rockettes repertoire. Students have the opportunity to explore how precision technique can inform other styles of dance and potentially new works.
Royal Academy of Dance
Boston Conservatory at Berklee is the first performing arts institution in the United States to offer students a ballet teaching qualification in partnership with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), a global leader in dance education and training.
RAD is renowned for setting international standards in classical ballet training and dance teacher education. The partnership will allow students at the Conservatory to become eligible for Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher Status (RTS) once they complete both online coursework and a practical module. Currently, both aspects of the program are administered at the Conservatory’s Boston campus. The program is designed to expand a student dance instructor’s thinking, and has a strong emphasis on the evolution of movement, age and developmentally appropriate pedagogy, and movement theory.
The Royal Academy of Dance certificate opens the door to teaching in 80 countries and graduates will also be given access to the RAD International Jobs database.
The program takes two years to complete and is an addition to the students’ Boston Conservatory program of study. Students on the Royal Academy of Dance Access Route to RTS will complete the online portion of their coursework during the school year. The practical module is taught by RAD tutor Gemma Williams, who was previously a part-time faculty member at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
The Ryan Seacrest Foundation
Beginning in spring 2021, Boston Conservatory Dance Division has partnered with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation to bring popular TikTok dance trends to patients at Levine Children’s Hospital in North Carolina and throughout their nationwide network. Pedagogy students teach dance tutorials which are broadcast into every hospital and waiting room, so that families can join via the foundation’s multimedia studio.
