Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.

My favorite Berklee experiences so far were the remote open mic nights before first semester. It was a great way of bonding with people before classes started, despite being scattered around the world, and I immediately felt like I was being integrated into a warm and welcoming community.

When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?

My favorite class was Ear Training 4. I was new to the concept of ear training—in fact, I was new to the concept of notes and reading music as a whole—so it was quite a challenge, but my professor was most welcoming and friendly, which is why I finished the class being very proud.

What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?

I actually haven’t been to Boston yet! One more reason why I am so excited to finally arrive this fall and discover all the incredible things to do and see.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee?

Don’t let Berklee’s reputation intimidate you. You’ve got nothing to lose, so it’s much better to give the application and audition a shot than to be too nervous to even try. You never know what might happen, so take all the chances you get.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

I haven’t been to campus yet, but I’m very excited to see the Caf!

Why did you choose Berklee?

The opportunities that Berklee provides are endless, and Berklee’s reputation is irreplaceable. I expected it to be the best possible surrounding for a musician to educate themselves and network. And so far my expectations have only been exceeded.

What are your plans for after graduation?

Ideally, I would like to become a music director. I see myself working several jobs part-time to combine what I like and stay flexible. [My interests include] arranging, songwriting, A&R, producing, artist management, and more—I’m excited to see where it will take me.

What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you’ve been involved in at Berklee?

I haven’t been involved in any in-person live events yet, but I can’t wait to attend as many as possible when I get to Boston this fall.

Where do you hope to perform this coming year?

I’ve seen so many Caf shows on YouTube, so it would be amazing to take part in one. As for other venues, I am completely new to Boston so I’ll be looking forward to getting to know all the possibilities and places to be!
