Ann Bobo, flute, joined the Conservatory in 2004 and is an assistant professor of flute. Bobo has been one of the busiest freelance flutists in Greater Boston for many years. She performs regularly with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Boston Musica Viva, the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and the Springfield Symphony. Learn more about Bobo. Alan Carr, trombone, joined the Conservatory in 2023 as assistant chair of instrumental studies. Previously, Carr was director of brass studies and assistant professor of music at George Mason University. He has also been on the faculty at Bates College, University of Maine at Augusta, and Concordia University Wisconsin. During the summer, Carr teaches trombone at New England Music Camp in Maine. Learn more about Carr.Joseph Damian Foley, trumpet, is an instructor of trumpet at the Conservatory. He is a native of Concord, New Hampshire, and enjoys a varied career as a much sought-after performer and enthusiastic teacher. His performances have taken him to more than a dozen countries on four continents. Learn more about Foley.Anne Howarth, horn, joined the Conservatory in 2021 and is an assistant professor of horn. She also teaches chamber music and the brass section of the Orchestral Repertoire course. Fueled by a passion for small ensemble collaborations, Howarth brings expressiveness, creativity, and delight to her performances. She is deeply curious about the ways in which shared musical experiences forge connections, invite deeper dialogue, and inspire contemplation. Learn more about Howarth. Frank Kelley, voice, has sung over one hundred opera roles with companies including the San Francisco Opera Company, Opera Theater of St. Louis, the Cincinnati Opera, the New Israeli Opera, the Theatre de la Monnaie, the Frankfurt Opera, Wexford Festival, and El Gran Teatre del Liceu. Kelley was involved in several seminal productions directed by Peter Sellars, including Così fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Sieben Todsünden, and Das Kleine Mahagonny—the Mozart operas were recorded by Decca and Austrian Public Television and were broadcast in the United States on the PBS show Great Performances. He is professor and head of the Piano Department and artistic director of the acclaimed Piano Masters Series. Equally at home in an orchestra or in a jazz club, it is Overton’s goal, regardless of the genre of music, to create a musical environment that is accessible, exciting, and can resonate deeply with any audience.
