Composer Notes
MADISON HILL (B.M. '26): "Woodland Incanta"
“Woodland Incanta” was inspired by my wonder of the enchanted world and the different escapes one can peer into.
GWENDOLYN CLORES (B.M. '26): "Variations in B-flat minor"
I was inspired to write this piece because I wanted to experiment with writing with the musical canon in mind. In each section (there are five main sections throughout), there are evident aspects of material repeating, whether it's each voice working together to create a complete canon or quick, sudden appearances of a repeated motif. Additionally, the reason why I titled it as a variation is because there are variations of the motifs all throughout the piece, and the job of the listener is to be able to identify and pick out the altered material.
CHLOE SMITH (B.M. '25): "Glacier"
Despite the imagery of the title, this piece has no overly deep meaning behind it. The beginning simply reminds me of a light blue color and a glacier was the first object my distinguished composer brain could imagine. I’ve just grown more interested in the timbres of woodwinds, and the range of a flute has always been a gorgeous sound to me. So of course, instead of just writing a flute solo, I added piano because I’m a pianist and piano is neat.
ROBERT TREVISANI (M.M. '23): "Cellage"
Ctrl + V
TREY ANTHONY FLORES (M.M. '24): "tomato soup"
After the audience booed me off stage, I wrung the excess tomato juice out of my shirt and used it for soup.
