An exciting evening of world premieres by international choreographers Jon Ole Olstad (Norway), Joseph Toonga (England), Dam Van Huynh, B.F.A. '02 (Vietnam/England), Korhan Basaran (Turkey), Catherine Coury (Spain), and Roderick George (Germany), plus a new contemporary ballet by Dance Division faculty members Adriana Suarez and Gianni Di Marco. Performed by Boston Conservatory senior, junior, and sophomore dancers.
About the Guest Choreographers
Holds a B.A. in theater from Bilkent University and an M.B.A. in arts management from Yeditepe University; artistic director of his projectbased company RAu; scholarship recipient to attend Cunningham Studio and danced with the Repertory Group of the Cunningham Company; studied and danced with various choreographers in Istanbul and New York; his work has been commissioned by Nimbus Dance Works, MMDC, Project 44, and Akbank Sanat in Istanbul. Graduate of the University of Michigan; collaborations with choreographers including Shen Wei, Ohad Naharin, Andrea Miller, and Shannon Gillen; touring performances in international venues including Lincoln Center, Art Basel, Festival de Danse, and Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, among others; cofounder of Marcat Dance; creates, performs, and teaches works of Marcat Dance at the National Dance Company of Wales, the National Company of Spain, Ballet Preljocaj, Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater, and Vanguard International Dance Festival; certified Gaga teacher and an Ilan Lev practitioner. Dam Van Huynh (B.F.A. '02, dance)
Founder of his Van Huynh Company; director of Centre151, an independent charity (London); associate director of Dance Bridges Festival (Kolkata, India); graduate of Boston Conservatory Dance Division; performed with companies and choreographers including the Nevada Ballet, Merce Cunningham, Portugal’s Companhia de Dança Contemporânea (CeDeCe, Richard Alston), and Phoenix Dance Theatre; artist in residence at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (2010–2012); associate artist with Dance United 2012–2014); operatic directorial debut at Ultima Festival (2015, Of Leonardo da Vinci). Jon Ole Olstad
Graduate of National Academy of the Arts (Norway); performed on the tour project Kamuyot (Swedish Riksteatern and Batsheva Dance Company); performed with Nederlands Dans Theater 1 and worked with Paul and Sol Leon, Johan Inger, Hofesh Shechter, and more; choreography presented at Cross Connection Comes Choreography Competition, Stockholm Dance Film Festival, and Ravnedans Contemporary Dance Festival; awarded first prize dancer and choreographer at the International Solo Tanz Competition (2015); taught and choreographed at the Juilliard School, New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lines Ballet, Edge PAC, among others; company class presentations at Gallim Dance, Ballet Hispanico, BODYTRAFFIC, and Theater Regensburg Tanz.
