Having premiered in 1813, Rossini’s opera buffa, The Italian Girl in Algiers, is a true comic gem with delightful characters, sparkling music and coloratura fireworks. It follows the courageous Isabella, a young Italian woman who travels to Algiers to find her missing lover, Lindoro. Upon her journey, Isabella captivates Mustafá, the Bey of Algiers, who decides that she will be the next addition to his harem. Little does he know that he has met his match in this clever Italian girl, who risks everything for love. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.
