In this installment of Boston Conservatory’s Opera Innovators Series, mezzo-soprano and Asian Opera Alliance founder Nina Yoshida Nelsen shares her personal journey and ways to foster constructive dialogue that seeks to explore culturally sensitive, inclusive, and responsive practices in the field of opera.

Described as a “richly powerful singing actress” (Broadway World), Nelsen is recognized for speaking out about stereotyping in casting and advocating for new approaches to presenting canonical operas today. In addition to her acclaimed performance career and pioneering work with the Asian Opera Alliance, Nelsen serves as artistic advisor for the Boston Lyric Opera. 

This event is open to Berklee students, faculty, and staff with a valid Berklee ID, and invited guests only.
